Career
Ms. Katerina Karali currently holds the position of Strategic Planning and Regulatory Affairs director at Elpedison, having more than 24 years of work experience in the electricity and natural gas sectors, specifically in strategic planning, regulation, restructuring, analysis and detailed design of the relevant markets, in accordance with the Energy Acquis.
At Elpedison, Ms. Karali is responsible for the communication and consultations with all Greek and European authorities and organizations, aiming at a more effective development of the regulatory and business environment while at the same time she is responsible for the development and licensing of a series of energy projects and infrastructures.
Prior to joining Elpedison, during the period 2015-2018, Ms. Karali led on behalf of EnCS (Energy Community Secretariat) the reform of the electricity sector in Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia, where she provided technical expertise regarding the harmonization of primary and secondary legislation with the Energy Community Acquis and the 3rd Energy package and supervised the introduction and implementation of appropriate software for the operation of the target model in subject electricity markets.
In the period 2013-2015 Ms. Karali was employed as a Special Scientific Staff at the Energy Regulatory Authority (RAE). Prior to that and for more than ten years, Ms. Karali worked in the regulation of the electricity and natural gas market in the South East Europe region, as an independent consultant, under international projects funded by European and international donors. In the framework of these projects, she has advised a number of governments, system operators, regulators, utilities and other electricity and gas organizations.
During the period 2000-2003 she worked for the Hellenic Energy and Development Company.
She is a graduate Mechanical Engineer from NTUA with a master's degree in Energy Generation
and Management.
